Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Digital Futures Institute (DFI) seeks to hire an Instructional Support Associate-Design Education. In this part-time role, the Instructional Support Associate-Design Education will mainly support Teachers College faculty and students in working with multimodal design research. As well as assist in providing support for DFI workshops, they will also assist on professional development opportunities and other administrative tasks as needed.

The person in this job will work 19 hours/week, and this role is hired on a semester basis.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with planning and implementation of programs that facilitate research development for graduate students and faculty within DFI
  • Help with website updates, communications, and organizing the database for DFI, contributing to scheduling and data analysis
  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the Design Studio, ensuring a functional and welcoming space
  • Assist with design studio open hours by providing consultations on visual research methods. This will be weekly in-person for a minimum of 8 hours a week
  • Utilize a ticketing system and project management system to track various responsibilities.
  • Testing course technology and activities
  • Support faculty with simple media creation
  • Providing administrative support as needed
  • Support DFI full-time staff in workshops, webinars, and other DFI sponsored events

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a passion for higher education and adult professional development along with an outstanding aptitude for teaching and learning new technologies. The candidate will also be able to communicate professionally and personably with any faculty, student or staff and demonstrate a high level of empathy and proactive problem-solving abilities. It is also essential that the candidate be able to work with minimal supervision, juggle multiple projects, and maintain a “can do” mindset even when facing daunting challenges.

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Design Software, Adobe Suite
  • Experience with graphic and digital design in a professional setting
  • Experience working at a higher education institution, educational organization, or a corporate training environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Accommodate a flexible work schedule, including after hours and weekends
  • Ability to work in person and virtually

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graphic design studio experience
  • Gallery or exhibit curation experience
  • Museum education experience
  • HTML & CSS knowledge
  • Video and audio recording knowledge
